Given the importance of data traceability in the automotive industry, automakers have realized the necessity of using consistently measureable rainfall detection systems. Rain collection units were connected to a AD-TPC-1282T host computer with WebAccess software installed for configuration, wireless data aggregation, and solenoid valve control. The computer provided easy access to data such as rainfall intensity and solenoid valve status.

The system included an AD-ADAM-6024 universal I/O module, which integrates high precision analog signal acquisition and digital control in a single unit. Because the rain collection unit had to be easy to move, AD-ADAM-6024’s compact size made it the ideal for selection for capturing sensor data, which were then uploaded to the AD-TPC-1282T via an AD-EKI-6332GN wireless AP/client, which is also rated IP55 (dustproof and waterproof) and offers stable wireless transmission.
